We help create stronger, healthier, integrated and accessible places of worship across the UK for everyone

What we do?

Strengthening Faith Institutions (SFI) professionalises places of worship. And a professional, well-governed faith centre can achieve its vision and access more funding.

Who are we?

SFI was launched in 2016 under the auspices of the Ostro Fayre Share Foundation. We work with an exciting range of faith charities across England and are proud to receive support from the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government.

SFI is comprised of a network of trained facilitators throughout England with expertise in third-sector organisations and sensitivity to faith issues.

We seek to match each faith centre with a local facilitator who can provide consistent support and specific advice to help each centre thrive.

How we do it?

Once your organisation has joined the SFI network, our regional consultant will set-up a meeting with your senior management team to create a bespoke health-check and action plan.

Your individualised action plan will serve to maximise your organisational objectives and provide a course of focused training for your leadership team, trustees, and members in core areas of safeguarding, security, governance, funding and other areas of need.

This is a package worth £1,500, offered for free to faith institutions.

How We work?

The Scheme has two parts:

Bespoke Health Check

Local, faith-based, expert facilitators engage with the senior management of your church, temple, synagogue, mosque, and gurdwara to identify your key organisational strengths and weaknesses. The facilitator will then create a bespoke action plan that works for you. Your consultant will ensure that the action plan leads to results that are measurable and effective.

The health-checks are confidential and your organisation can decide precisely how much information you wish to share with the consultant.

Training Sessions

All SFI organisations are invited to attend regular training and qualification courses for senior management, trustees, clergy, volunteers, and members. Topics will include: financial sustainability, good governance, fundraising, social media, safeguarding, and more. Courses are free or heavily subsidised. And if you would like to run a particular training event in your area, contact us, and we will do our utmost to run it locally.
