Faith in our community and power to change
A Yeshiva in Manchester were just inspected by ISS and passed their inspection after failing on numerous counts about a year ago. We worked with them using the SFI-Interlink safeguarding audit and then followed up with numerous policies, procedures and governance support and it is so gratifying to hear that they have now come through their inspection successfully after putting remediations in place.
“The information that was delivered and in the style it was done so was very understandable which means it left a better impact on our understanding of the basics of safeguarding and because of this we were able to reassess our own dynamic and behavior in our organisation. I would definitely promote your strengthening faith institutions to many of our fellow organisations because the clarity of the message was brilliant.”
“The information was delivered in a well thought-out fashion with a good structure. Certainly it will help to better our organization.”
The SFI training session was really helpful in understanding how we can safeguard the young people, who attend our Madrassa. We would highly recommend this training session.
I think this course was the perfect fit for me – After the training I felt that now I have the opportunity to put my learning into practice right away, to teach and safeguarding children.
“Just wanted to say a big thank you from all the staff at Qadria Trust to SFI for all their hard work and for taking the time out to arrange first aid training. And also to brother Waheed from CodeRed Paramedical. The training was very informative and well delivered, the staff are very grateful for your efforts and we have all learnt a great deal.”
“I would like to thank you for all your support, guidance and all your effort for the charity registration process.”
“The session gave general, clear and accurate information about safeguarding policies.”
“SFI provided an excellent introduction to procedures and policy requirements and presentation tailored to our specific needs.”
“The safeguarding training our institution received was very effective training to ensure we can keep our mosque as safe as possible”
As a trustee of the Brent Cultural Centre, I have noticed a transformation in our centre since we first signed up with the SFI programme. Our governance is more cohesive, our policies are clear, our safeguarding framework is more robust. And, most importantly, we now have a professional team working with us, who understand my centre deeply and care about the best outcome for us.
The SFI consultants are very well informed.
SFI understood our particular needs. They created a safeguarding course for our staff and teachers which was very fruitful, and taught professionally with practical examples and cases studies.
We need more programmes like this one. Much that was previously obscure has begun to make sense.

Strengthening Faith Institutions (SFI) celebrated the achievements of the Madrassatul Noor teachers. For some of them this is the first time they are attending a forum where they could openly discuss their challenges. For some, this is the first recognised / accredited certificate they have achieved and for a course they did in English. We have had…
Faith institutions such as Mosques, Gurdwaras, Churches, Synagogues and Temples play a fundamental role in the learning and development about one’s faith particularly for young children. Often, particularly within smaller faith centres, where worshippers and staff tend to be neighbours, there is a sense of an implied trust without the need for serious and professional…
