The Foundation for Social Improvement (FSI) is to hold its 4th annual Skills Conference on the 28th of March 2019.

The conference, which will be held in Chadwick Court in central London, is an opportunity for members of smaller charities to upskill themselves with essential back-office skills in running a charity, including finance, marketing & communications, governance, management and charity policy.

Over 20 workshops will be on offer on the day of the conference, which takes place from 9am to 4:30pm.

The topics that will be covered include:

  • Budgeting and cashflow
  • Managing serious incidents
  • Effective people management

Two spaces are available per charity. Tickets to attend the conference are priced at £25 and will be on sale until Friday, 15th March.

Trustees of the Heart of Hastings Community Land Trust, who attended the conference in 2018, said:

“I learned from the seminars I attended, and feel confident to feedback to colleagues and trustees, where necessary, making changes to our procedures in line with best practice highlighted in the seminars.”

Representatives from the Hideaway Youth Project said:

“It is a day well spent away from the day to day activities where I could listen to others and share skills. Although a very full packed day, it meant I could actually ask questions and think about the charity I manage.”

The Plenary Speaker for the conference will be Claire Dove OBE, the current Crown Representative for the Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise Sector. Claire has over 30 years’ experience working in the social enterprise sector and received an OBE in 2013, as well as being given the Queens Lifetime Achievement Award for Enterprise Promotion.
